FPCG is serving as the Fire Protection Engineer of Record (FPE DOR) for The Hemisfair Hotel—The Monarch, a 200-room, 17-story curved boutique hotel located in San Antonio’s Hemisfair district. This luxury destination will feature 186 guest rooms, 14 suites, over 10,000 square feet of event and meeting space—including a 5,500-square-foot ballroom and a 3,000-square-foot park terrace—as well as a full-service spa, terrace pool, garden, fitness center, rooftop restaurant and bar, and a basement speakeasy.

As FPE DOR, FPCG is responsible for producing complete engineered drawings and specifications for the fire sprinkler, fire pump, and standpipe systems. Our scope also includes detailed design and layout of the fire riser and fire pump rooms. Additionally, FPCG is providing smoke control design rational analysis for stair and elevator pressurization systems serving the 17- and 18-story shafts, supported by CONTAM modeling and integration of the firefighter’s override panel.

FPCG is also leading the fire and life safety code consulting effort, which includes a comprehensive code review, report of findings, narrative documentation for permit submittal, and life safety drawings and plan-based code review in coordination with the City of San Antonio. This full-service approach ensures that The Monarch will meet all applicable codes and standards while delivering a safe, elegant, and highly functional guest experience.
