New Mexico Supreme Court Building
Project Type:
Judicial facility renovation
Location:
Santa Fe, New Mexico
FPCG was engaged to conduct comprehensive code assessments for both the original 1937 New Mexico Supreme Court Building and its 1964 addition in Santa Fe. These evaluations were based on plans and correspondence with court staff and align with the locally adopted editions of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC), International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC), and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code.
The historic Supreme Court Building, constructed in Territorial Revival style with funding from the Public Works Administration, is one of New Mexico’s most significant New Deal-era public buildings, completed in 1937. The 1964 addition sensitively expanded the structure while maintaining its original Y‑plan layout and architectural character.
FPCG’s scope includes building-wide life safety and fire protection system assessments, code review, and detailed reporting of findings. These deliverables will guide future upgrades that align with applicable codes and ensure the historic and addition portions of the building meet current safety standards. The project is currently ongoing and will support the continued use and preservation of this historically and legally significant facility.
