As Fire Protection Consulting Group (FPCG) continues to grow, so does our commitment to serving clients with the same level of precision, responsiveness, and technical expertise. We’re excited to introduce Matt Morse, Senior Fire Protection Engineer, and share more about FPCG’s dedicated presence in Jacksonville, Florida.
While FPCG’s Florida presence is growing, our work in the state is not new. FPCG has held a Florida Professional Engineer license since 2021, allowing our team to support projects in the state for several years. Now that Matt is based in Jacksonville, we are strengthening that commitment with a dedicated local presence and more direct support for clients, architects, contractors, and project teams throughout Florida and the Southeast.
This growth marks an important step in our ability to serve projects across the region while maintaining the hands-on, engineering-focused approach that defines FPCG.
Strengthening Our Presence in Florida
Florida presents a unique and dynamic environment for fire protection design. From coastal conditions and high humidity to rapid development and evolving code requirements, projects in this region require thoughtful, experience-driven solutions.
FPCG has supported Florida projects for years through our professional licensing and nationwide fire protection engineering services. Establishing a dedicated presence in Jacksonville allows us to build on that foundation and provide even more responsive support to project teams in the area.
With Matt based in Florida, FPCG is better positioned to:
Support architects and construction teams with local insight.
Respond more efficiently to on-site project needs.
Navigate regional code requirements and jurisdictional expectations with native experience.
Provide on-the-ground expertise for complex projects.
Strengthen relationships with clients and project partners throughout the Southeast.
This expansion allows us to bring our commitment to providing Smarter Design for a Safer World to a broader range of clients while continuing to deliver the high level of service our partners expect.

Meet Matt Morse
Matt Morse, a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, joined FPCG as a Senior Fire Protection Engineer in April 2025, bringing a strong foundation in technical design, system commissioning, and problem-solving in the built environment.
Matt has lived in Florida since 2009, when he moved to the state after college for a position with NAVFAC Southeast. Based in Jacksonville, Matt gives FPCG a valuable “boots on the ground” presence in the region. He holds Professional Engineer licenses in nine states in addition to Florida, allowing FPCG to continue supporting clients across the country while expanding our dedicated service in the Florida market.
Matt’s path to fire protection engineering began before college, when he was serving as a firefighter. After a local volunteer fire chief suggested he look into fire protection engineering, Matt found a field that combined technical design with the practical realities of protecting people, buildings, and emergency responders.
Today, one of the aspects of fire protection design he finds most rewarding is commissioning and integrating systems to create a comprehensive fire protection strategy for a facility. He also enjoys the challenge of renovating existing occupancies to comply with new code requirements and designing systems that work within the constraints of existing buildings.

Matt especially enjoys aircraft hangar fire suppression systems, Qualified Fire Protection Engineer work, and system commissioning. His experience and interests align well with FPCG’s approach to providing practical, technically sound solutions that work in the field, not just on paper.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys the Florida lifestyle, including boating, fishing, the beach, and spending time outdoors. He also coaches youth travel baseball and enjoys spending time with his family.
Supporting Architects and Construction Teams
At FPCG, we understand that fire protection design is not just about meeting code. It is about integrating systems into the overall building design in an efficient, coordinated, and practical way.
Matt’s role supports this mission by working closely with:
Architects during early design phases
General contractors during construction coordination
Owners and stakeholders to ensure long-term system performance
His approach aligns with FPCG’s philosophy of delivering engineered solutions rather than just specifications. This includes careful coordination with other disciplines, attention to constructability, and a focus on long-term maintainability.
FPCG Services, Nationwide and Now with Dedicated Florida Support

FPCG provides fire protection engineering, code consulting, and life safety services for projects across a wide range of building types and industries. With FPCG holding a Florida PE license since 2021 and having a dedicated office based in Jacksonville, we are better positioned to support architects, owners, contractors, and project teams throughout Florida while continuing to serve clients nationwide.
Our services include:
Fire sprinkler and standpipe system design
Fire alarm and mass notification system design
Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems (ERCES/ERRC)
Smoke control and smoke management design
Fire pump and fire water supply analysis
Fire flow testing and hydraulic calculations
Code consulting and life safety evaluations
Commodity classification and high-piled storage evaluations
Construction administration and field coordination
Special inspections, commissioning, and third-party review
Whether a project involves new construction, tenant improvements, renovations, existing building evaluations, or complex fire protection coordination, our team provides practical guidance rooted in code knowledge and real-world design experience.
Bringing Practical Experience to Fire Protection Design
Matt’s experience with commissioning, existing building renovations, aircraft hangar fire suppression systems, and system integration brings a practical, detail-oriented perspective to FPCG’s Florida presence.
Whether working on fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, suppression systems, or code consulting efforts, his work emphasizes:
Accurate system sizing and performance analysis
Clear, coordinated design documentation
Practical solutions that work in the field, not just on paper
Integration of multiple fire protection systems into a complete facility strategy
This level of detail helps reduce uncertainty for project teams and supports smoother project execution from design through construction.
See Us at the AIA Florida Convention & Trade Show

On July 17, 2026, FPCG will be attending the AIA Florida Convention & Trade Show as a vendor, and we would love the opportunity to connect.
For architects and design teams, fire protection and life safety questions often come up early in design, during permitting, or when an existing building presents unexpected challenges. Our team is there to help make those conversations clearer and more manageable.
If you will be attending the conference, we hope you’ll stop by Booth 131 to meet our team, learn more about how FPCG can support projects in Florida and beyond, and enter our raffle for the Serious Design. Serious Fun architect-inspired end-of-summer fun kit.
